It’s that time of year again, people start hitting the gym, counting the calories, giving up the bad habits and starting new positive ones. The New Year is a great time to reflect on the highs and lows of the year just passed and to map out a plan for the year that lays ahead of us. The image and marketing strategy of your business should be looked at in the same light, and your website is an obvious place to start.

Think about dropping weight and shedding those extra pounds that have been picked up over the last year. If you use your website like you should, its only natural for it to get a little cluttered over time or a little out of date. We recommend completely overhauling your site every 2 to 3 years and giving it a good clean facelift at least once a year, depending on your business.

Now, at the start of a new year, is a great time to think about your customer base; Who are they? How are they looking for your product or service? What do they want? Most importantly, how can you best provide it to them? Once you have the answers to these questions we can zero in on what in/on your website should be enhanced and polished and what could get tossed in the trash.

Over the last year (if you’ve been with us at least) you should have been picking up all sorts of valuable information from your users; what have they been looking at when visiting your site and what have they not? Who out there on the web has been sending you the most traffic? How many visitors come to your site every week / month/ year, and what would it mean for your business if you increased that number by 10, 20, 30% or more? Did any advertising that you did over the last year affect your website traffic? Can you tell how much of your actual business came from your website, can you increase that? Were you even gathering this information over the past year, and if not, should you start? We, of course, think the answer to that question is yes!

For 2011 why not give your company a facelift! We are reaching out of a recession and companies are looking to spend, enhance, and improve and now is the time to position your company to take the greatest advantage of that opportunity. Resolve to put your company’s best foot forward and to make the best out of your advertising budget.
